Craig W. Goolsby and Justin W. Parsons recently obtained a defense verdict in favor of an insurance brokerage firm and an individual insurance broker after a four day jury trial in Mobile County, Alabama. Plaintiff alleged that the broker negligently failed to obtain plaintiff insurance after its property burned, resulting in a total loss, and its insurer failed to pay the claim. Plaintiff argued that its claim was not paid by the insurance company, in part due to alleged mistakes in the application process, for which the broker was responsible. The jury disagreed, finding that the broker was not negligent, rendering a defense verdict.
