TIDA Board of Directors Honors Charles Carr

The Transportation Industry Defense Association (TIDA) presented the 2016 John T. Biezup Memorial Service Award to Charles Carr at it’s annual meeting in Boston.  Carr is the president and co-founder of Carr Allison, a nationally known law firm that bears his name.

The John T. Biezup Memorial Service Award was created to honor John Biezup, a charter member of the Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA) who died suddenly in 1994. John was a partner in the Philadelphia law firm of Palmer, Biezup and Henderson. He was a tireless and innovative lawyer who was constantly trying to find new ways to protect his clients’ interests. His clients were as dedicated to him as he was to them. It was to honor that spirit of service that TIDA created an award bearing his name. Annually, the TIDA Board of Directors chooses a member of TIDA whom they believe best exemplifies John’s spirit of service, not only to TIDA, but to his or her clients and the trucking industry.

Reflecting on the award Carr said, “This truly is the highlight of a lifetime of representing the transportation industry.  So many other great lawyers are well-deserving of this award and to even be considered in their company is gratifying.  Also to be chosen by board members evenly split between well-known motor carrier lawyers and risk management/General Counsel of the transportation industry was overwhelming.  I am grateful to the TIDA Board for this prestigious award.”

Among previous winners of the Biezup award are such notable industry representatives as Mark Whitehead of J.B. Hunt, Bill Burns of Landstar, Paul Berne of Lancer, Tom McLaughlin of Transport America, Keith Dunlap of NTA, James Klemme of Great West and Norm Young of FFE.  Prior attorney recipients have included Tim Abeel, Brian Wood, Doug Rennie, Bob Corrie and Inga Upshaw.
