Saunders Obtains Defense Verdict

Birmingham Associate Anna Saunders defended a client in a workers’ compensation case in Etowah County, Alabama.  The Plaintiff alleged that he re-injured his shoulder while working with the Defendant and requested that the Court find his injuries compensable under the Workers’ Compensation Act of Alabama and award him a monetary amount, plus the cost of prosecuting the claim.  Ms. Saunders argued that Plaintiff’s injury was nothing more than a recurrence of his original compensable injury that occurred while working with a different employer and that there was a lack of medical evidence showing any anatomical change following the original injury.  The Court was inclined to render a verdict in favor of the Defense and when the Judge released his order a defense verdict was obtained and the Plaintiff’s injuries were found not to be related to his employment.
