Michael J. Petherick is a shareholder in Carr Allison’s Chattanooga (TN) office. Michael’s practice concentrates on transportation, professional liability and other complex litigation.
Michael has successfully defended commercial motor carriers throughout the State of Tennessee in both pre-suit and litigated matters. In addition to his transportation practice, Michael has experience defending clients in commercial, construction, products liability and professional liability litigation, both in trial and appellate courts. In his appellate practice, Michael has experience briefing and arguing cases before both the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court. During his career, he has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch® since 2022 and Mid-South Super Lawyers® Rising Stars in 2023.
Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), graduating summa cum laude. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law, graduating cum laude. Michael received several accolades during law school, including being elected to the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and being named a Tennessee Law Student for Justice by the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Outside of his practice, Michael enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Caitlin, his friends, and his rambunctious corgi, Clementine. Michael is also a proud fan of the Tennessee Volunteers.
