Carr Allison’s Eley Earns Defense Verdict

On June 10, 2020, Birmingham associate Chase Eley defended a client in a workers’ compensation case in Etowah County, Alabama.  The Plaintiff alleged that he developed varicose veins and blood clots as a result of his employment with the Defendant. At the conclusion of the trial, the Plaintiff requested that the Court find his injuries compensable under the Workers’ Compensation Act of Alabama, and award him a monetary amount, plus the costs of prosecuting the claim. Mr. Eley argued that based on the lack of medical evidence, the Court was inclined to render a verdict in favor of the Defense. On June 19, 2020, the judge released his order, wherein a defense verdict was obtained and the Plaintiff’s injuries were found not to be related to his employment.
