Burgess Speaks at National USLAW Event

Elizabeth “Betsy” Burgess (Tallahassee, FL) was a featured speaker at the 2019 USLAW Network Retail and Hospitality Law Exchange in New Orleans, LA.  In a presentation titled “Big Brother as Referee: Don’t Strike Out with Fair Play,” Betsy and attorney Robyn F. McGrath of Sweeney & Sheehan, P.C. (Philadelphia, PA) discussed the rising tide of “fair workweek” legislation.  These laws, which primarily affect restaurant and retail industries, are designed to prevent employers from giving workers unpredictable or irregular work schedules.  This type of legislation is being passed in an increasing number of states and municipalities.
