Meghan M. Bensted is an associate in Carr Allison’s Tallahassee (FL) office. Her practice focuses on defending matters of workers’ compensation. Meghan is admitted to practice in Florida and the US District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida.

Prior to joining Carr Allison, Meghan practiced as a criminal defense attorney, first serving as assistant regional counsel later as an assistant public defender, where she defended indigent clients in felony cases. Following her time as a public defender, Meghan worked as an associate attorney at a Florida criminal law firm with statewide offices defending clients with serious felonies. Next, she transitioned to defending employers, carriers and serving agents in workers’ compensation cases at a midsize defense firm. Meghan then moved into a staff counsel position at one of the leading providers of workers’ compensation and specialty risk insurance, where she represented them and their insured. Here, she gained valuable experience and insight defending workers’ compensation claims.

In addition, Meghan served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer (31A). She was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado, until she was medically retired in 2020.

Meghan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University in international affairs with a minor in business. She then earned her Juris Doctor from Florida State College of Law.

Outside the office, Meghan enjoys fishing, boating and football. She also enjoys spending time with her daughter, Ella Mae, and four dogs, Sula, Taser, Molly and Hera.
