Professional Profile
Matthew T. Dorius is a shareholder in the Medicare Compliance Group of Carr Allison in its Birmingham (AL) office. Matt assists clients nationwide with hundreds of cases each year, has presented and written articles on various medicare compliance issues and has developed client policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Medicare Secondary Payer Act.
In every case, Matt is committed to advocating his clients’ interests to CMS. He has successfully argued to CMS for a number of significant MSA reductions, in one case convincing CMS to reduce another vendor’s $452,752 determination to $183,120. He is routinely able to avoid delays in the CMS review process by effectively presenting the client’s position and persuading the CMS reviewer to issue an approval. For example, in a case where another vendor had proposed a $25,383 MSA and was unable to obtain CMS approval for a year and a half as CMS continued to request more records, Matt took over the file and persuaded CMS to approve a $3,651 MSA one month later without any additional records.
Matt grew up in Memphis (TN) and played rugby for the University of Oklahoma. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Tina, and playing with their four young children. He actively supports charities and mission work. When he has a chance, Matt enjoys reading about history, philosophy and occasionally, theoretical physics.
