Tinsley earned her Juris Doctor from the School of Law, while also earning her Doctorate of Philosophy in political science. While there, she served as article editor and on the managing board of the Journal of the Legal Profession, president of Christian Legal Society and board member of Campbell Moot Court.

Tinsley, originally from Savannah (GA), currently resides in Tuscaloosa with her husband, Joshua. In her free time she loves to play violin in her church orchestra.
