Professional Profile

Laithan Simmerman brings experience and confidence to the table when defending matters involving professional liability, premises liability and insurance.

Licensed to practice in Mississippi and Alabama, his client-forward approach focuses on providing transparent communication with the entire defense team to ensure that everyone involved understands and supports the case strategy being employed. Laithan is experienced in research, drafting legal documents and interviewing clients which underscores his attention to detail required by the factual nuances of his cases.

Since his admission to the Mississippi Bar, Laithan has been an active member of the legal community, holding multiple positions in local and state legal organizations. His appetite for leadership began in law school when he was elected to serve as a Class Senator and eventually as Student Body President. After graduating law school and moving to Gulfport, Laithan sought involvement in Bar and Chamber committees. He currently serves as the President of the Harrison County Young Lawyers Association, Treasurer for the Harrison County Bar and was recently elected to serve a term as a Coastal Director to the Young Lawyers Division of the Mississippi Bar. He was also selected for the Mississippi Bar Leadership Course, graduating in the 2024 Class. He remains active outside of the Bar as well, serving on the Coast Young Professionals Board of Directors with a focus on its Policy and Government efforts.

In his spare time, Laithan enjoys traveling with his wife Katherine. The Bahamas has become their favorite spot … so far. Laithan also enjoys keeping up with the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the New Orleans Saints
