Britton O’Shields is an associate in Carr Allison’s Birmingham (AL) office. Her practice focuses on the defense of matters involving premises liability, personal injury and workers’ compensation. Britton is admitted to practice in Alabama as well as before the United States District Courts, Northern and Middle Districts of Alabama.
After receiving her undergraduate degree in Middle Eastern Studies at Birmingham-Southern College (AL), Britton went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University where she was named to the Dean’s List five semesters. She was a Caruthers Teaching Fellow, a seasonal recruiter and studied abroad one summer at Cambridge University.
Britton is active with the Birmingham Bar Association in the Workers’ Compensation, Young Lawyers and Women’s Sections, as well as the Alabama Association for Justice’s Workers’ Compensation and Emerging Leaders Sections. Most recently she has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 in 2021 and 2020. Previously she was named to the Top Women in Law and Top Flight Attorneys lists by bMetro Magazine. Noted as a Rising Star by Birmingham Magazine, Britton was honored by the Council on American-Islamic Relations – Alabama as the 2016 Volunteer of the Year.
Britton enjoys spending time with her husband Walter and their two dogs: Clyde, a golden retriever, and Gunner, a German shorthaired pointer. In her spare time she enjoys going to art galleries and museums, trying new food and spending time at her family’s farm.
