  • The Tallahassee, Florida, Bar Association held its 16th Annual Chili Cook-Off on January 25. For the third straight year, the Tallahassee office of Carr Allison was victorious by winning the catagory of "Must Unusual Chili."

    The Carr Allison team consisted of Matt Scanlan, Doug Jones, Bill Graham, Chris Barkas, Mike McKean, Stacy Rowell, and J. L. King.

    The event raised funds for the Legal Aid Foundation of Tallahassee and Leon County, Florida.

  • Carl K. Dowdey, III (Trey), attorney with Carr Allison’s Birmingham, Alabama office, was selected for promotion to  Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve JAG Corps.  Following graduation from Cumberland School of Law, Dowdey was commissioned as a First Lieutenant and served in Germany and at Fort Rucker, Alabama.  After serving on active duty for four years, he entered the Reserves where he has been serving for nearly a decade.

    Currently, Dowdey’s assignment is as Staff Judge Advocate at the Deployment Support Command, a one star command based out of Birmingham, which provides transportation and logistical support for deployed Soldiers overseas.

  • Bennett L. Pugh recently spoke at the North Carolina and South Carolina's Workers' Compensation Education Conferences. He discussed the impact of changes in workers' compensation law, Medicare compliance, practical advice for treating the workers' compensation patient, and the aging workforce.

    The goal of the conferences is to educate those who participate in the North Carolina and South Carolina workers' compensation system regarding current roles, procedures, policies and forms and to provide an opportunity for dialogue among those participants.

    Bennett L. Pugh is a founding partner of Carr Allison in Birmingham, Alabama.  His emphasis is on Medicare Compliance and workers’ compensation law and he has been assisting parties and ensuring compliance with the Medicare Secondary Payer statute for years.  Mr. Pugh has been published in numerous publications nationwide and speaks frequently on Medicare law all across the country.  He received his B.S. from Samford University in 1982 and earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law in 1985. 

  • Charles Carr is schedule to speak at the TIDA Advanced Seminar in Miami in February of 2012 on the topic entitled "Defending Shipper Liability Claims Against Alleged Unsafe Motor Carriers".
