In September 2007, Chris Barkas won a defense verdict (no liability was found) for Sitton Motor Lines, Inc. The jury trial was held in Federal District Court in Panama City, Florida. Plaintiff claimed permanent injury including cervical disc herniation and TMJ displacement. An MRI confirmed the presence of the herniated disc. It was claimed the injuries resulted from a high speed accident which occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-10 just east of Pensacola, Florida. The Sitton tractor trailer was traveling in the right lane. Plaintiff claimed the Sitton driver crossed the center line striking her vehicle, forcing it under the trailer in front of the rear tandem tires. Plaintiff's car was severely damaged. Fortunately, several independent eyewitnesses and the physical evidence proved the plaintiff lost control of her car and drove under the Sitton trailer. The Sitton driver was found free of fault. Sitton was the prevailing party and recovered from plaintiff an $11,000.00 cashier's check for costs.
