Practicing in the firm’s Medicare Compliance Group, Jennifer has extensive knowledge of the federal Medicare Secondary Payer Act. She assists parties in workers’ compensation and personal injury settlements with Medicare Set-asides, conditional payments, Section 111 Reporting issues and reviews and advises on case-specific settlement language throughout the country. Jennifer also frequently speaks on Medicare compliance issues at seminars and conferences. Recently, Jennifer co-authored an article with Matthew N. Tully regarding a Medicare Advantage Plan’s right to seek reimbursement under the MSPA.
Jennifer received her BS degree from the University of Georgia and Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University (AL). While in law school, she served as Research and Writing Editor for the American Journal of Trial Advocacy.
Jennifer grew up in Georgia. She relocated to Birmingham for law school. Although being a Georgia fan in the state of Alabama can be challenging, Jennifer fell in love with Birmingham and decided to stay in the city.
Jennifer is an avid runner. She is a member of the Birmingham Track Club as well as the Birmingham Running and Training Society (she’s a BRAT) and loves to start her day with an early morning run. Jennifer also enjoys visiting family, which usually calls for a long weekend trip as they are spread along the East Coast, from Florida to Maine.
